Croatia has become the first EU member state to start pre-emptively vaccinating cattle against lumpy skin disease (LSD) in a bid to stop the virus spreading from neighbouring countries.
The Croatian agriculture ministry said it had taken the decision to vaccinate the country’s entire cattle herd after consulting with dairy producers, breeders and scientific experts.
