Press Release - ÚKZÚZ informed about serious suspected presence of Xylella fastidiosa bacteria, plant quarantine in the Czech Republic. The bacteria infects a wide range of host plants, especially fruit and ornamental plants and grapevines, which has very significant economic damage. It is currently the most serious phytosanitary problem in Europe.
In February 2017 highlighted Spain ÚKZÚZ, who plays the role of the national plant protection organization in the Czech Republic, the supply of ornamental plant species milkwort myrtolistý (Polygala myrtifolia), who came from the Spanish ornamental nurseries suspected occurrence of Xylella fastidiosa and was delivered to the Czech Republic in May 2016. Following a subsequent investigation ÚKZÚZ found that the Spanish van contained a total of 56 plants Vitodata, which were delivered to the 14 garden centers in seven cities of the Czech Republic and 11 plants also in the Slovak Republic. A total of 44 plants supplied Vitodata the Czech Republic was sold subsequent to delivery as early as 2016 in the retail sale to private individuals.
