This report on zoonoses and zoonotic agents provides information on the occurrence and spread of zoonoses requiring monitoring in Austria in the year 2015.

Lumpy skin disease is a notifiable pox infection that occurs in ruminants. Starting in Asia, this virus infection is beginning to spread into Europe: at present, several outbreaks have been verified in Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro.

The 2015 Annual Report provides an overview of the many and varied activities and services provided by AGES and a retrospective on the issues AGES was mainly involved in during 2015.

Mercury finds its way into the environment via both natural processes (e.g. volcanic eruptions) and industrial processes (e.g. burning coal or heating oil). From 2007 to 2013 around 50 domestic and 600 non-domestic fish were tested for mercury.
