The disease affects cattle and buffaloes of all ages and causes particularly high economic losses both because of the extremely costly combat measures required, and because it entails severe restrictions on the circulation of the affected species for both intra-community trade and export, ANSVSA said in a Wednesday release to AGERPRES.

Faced with this immediate risk, ANSVSA moved to inform, train and prepare the county veterinary authorities on the progress of the disease, the need to keep cattle breeders informed and aware, and for intervention in case of disease outbreaks.
